Matt leads business.govt.nz, the New Zealand Government's team for small businesses. Business.govt.nz exists to make it easier for New Zealand's half a million small businesses to understand government and succeed. It does this by packaging key across government and private sector information, in one place, in a way that makes sense to small businesses.

Business.govt.nz puts the needs of its small business customer at the centre of all its products. Use of business.govt.nz has doubled in the last 18 months to 2 million interactions in 2016, demonstrating demand for across government tools and resources designed to meet the needs of small businesses.

Before joining business.govt.nz in 2014, Matt set up and managed small businesses, focusing on technology startups and writing services. His background is originally in commercial law, working as a lawyer at Goldman Sachs and Standard & Poor’s in London, and Simpson Grierson in Wellington.
